Just in time for the SXSW Gaming Awards on March 19th, we’re covering top games from several notable categories. Learn more about a game you love or find a new game you might want to try out.
The SXSW Gaming Awards started just 2 years ago recognizing the art of gaming. We can only imagine all the work that goes into game design, animation, music, and more. SXSW focuses on the craft of creating games, not just the final product.
With that in mind, we’ll share highlights from technical achievement, visual achievement, excellence in music score, and excellence in convergence. These are all areas that are not only critical to gaming, but also the Helix Cuff.
Excellence in Convergence - Guitar Hero Live
Guitar Hero Live is no gaming new-comer. The music video game has been a fan favorite for years. With the release of Guitar Hero Live in late 2015, the game is now up for an interesting SXSW Gaming Award. Excellence in Convergence is awarded to games that excel in crossovers to other entertainment mediums such as film, music, toys, animation, sports and more.
It’s easy to see how Guitar Hero Live fits this description. This innovative reboot features a new guitar controller with a 6-button, 3-fret layout much different from previous 5-button controllers. Gameplay is now featured over a full motion video from the perspective of a lead guitarist for an impressive new look.
Did you know you can use the Helix Cuff as a Gaming Headphone? The Noise-Cancelling Headphones and aptX high quality audio features make for an awesome sound experience.
Ashley Chloe wouldn’t be the same without the idea of convergence. Created with the goal of seamlessly combining performance with style and convenience, Ashley Chloe and the Helix Cuff are a marriage of important form factors. For music-lovers and gamers who don’t want to compromise any longer, the Helix Cuff and Guitar Hero Live are prime examples of innovation in convergence.
Technical Achievement - Fallout 4
If you haven’t had the joy of playing Fallout 4, here’s a little run down. Fallout 4 is a post-apocalyptic role-playing game created by Bethesda Game Studios. The setting is a post-nuclear war Boston in the year 2287. Fallout 4 was released November 2015 and shipped 12 million units within the first 24 hours of its release.
The game was named Game of the Year during the Dice Awards and is definitely one to watch. To create Fallout 4, the team used the Creation engine, instead of the Gamebryo engine it used for the previous two releases. This enabled them to revamp the character editor system and increase the resolution to 1080p and 30 frames/second. The player’s character, the Sole Survivor, is now fully-voiced and is able to have dynamic conversations.
We are no stranger to technical advancement at Ashley Chloe. Developing Wireless Headphones that fit in a sleek and comfortable cuff was a technical challenge, not to mention, adding Bluetooth 4.1 and aptX high quality sound technology to the earbuds.
We know how important it is to deliver the latest technology in a new release and create something that’s never been seen before. That’s why we were so impressed with Fallout 4’s technical development. We’ll be on the lookout for what innovations they have coming.
Visual Achievement - Star Wars Battlefront
Although the Star Wars franchise may be decades old, the latest game looks anything but. The game’s visuals look almost as good as the movie itself. It was in 2013, that EA Dice revealed a teaser of the new Star Wars Battlefront game and the reboot has definitely been long awaited. It’s no surprise that the focus on the new game was on making it look like the films and it’s clear that they’ve succeeded.
Gaming bolt, believed Star Wars Battlefront could be the next big leap in video game visuals. The game’s use of photogrammetry to create high resolution 3D meshes and an intricate series of surface points for objects and models. This process is used to cross live action and 3D footage in movies like The Matrix.
Visual aspects was another important form factor of the Helix Cuff. Creating a wearable that was attractive and technologically powerful was critical to the Helix Cuff’s design. We noticed that a lot of wearables were either fashionable or functional. Ashley Chloe was able to create a whole new headphone experience. We created a sleek and fashion-forward design that combines fashion and function to fit in perfectly with everyday routine.
Excellence in Music Score - Ori And The Blind Forest
It’s no wonder that Ori And The Blind Forest is a SXSW Gaming Awards nominee for music - their soundtrack has 2 million views on Youtube. The game is four years in the making, created by an independent developer and was inspired by The Lion King and The Iron Giant.
The music of Ori And The Blind Forest is orchestrated and uplifting - which you’ll appreciate since the game can be quite the tearjerker. The game has already won an Outstanding Achievement in Music Composition award and is also up for Music in the British Academy Games Awards.
It’s no secret we are all about music at Ashley Chloe. No matter what you like to listen to, you’ll love hearing it on the Helix Cuff’s Bluetooth Headphones.
While on-the-go access to your headphones is a major benefit to the Helix Cuff, you’ll also find the sound quality to be top notch. Our experienced engineering team researched and put to use the latest sound technology to make listening to music on the Helix Cuff an incredible experience. Maybe you’ll even listen to Ori And The Blind Forest’s soundtrack on the Helix Cuff!
