Gin & Tonics 3 Ways for National Gin & Tonic Day

Gin & Tonic Recipes

Did you know that Gin & Tonics are actually relatively healthy?  Gin is made from juniper berries, little dark purple nuggets that look like blueberries.  They’re not berries at all, but actually female seed cone, which is why gin has a reputation for “tasting like Christmas trees”.  Juniper berries themselves have a ton of health benefits due to their high antioxidant content. They can improve skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, are a natural antiseptic, and are excellent for heart health and digestion!

Gin & tonics are also low in calories, weighing in at around 200, depending on what type of tonic water and mixers you use.  One shot of gin by itself is only about 97 calories, making it a pretty reasonable choice at happy hour! Not to mention, tonic water is made with quinine, which acts as a muscle relaxant and anti-inflammatory agent.

Need more excuses?  It’s National Gin & Tonic Day on April 9th!  We’ve put together 3 variations of this classic cocktail to inspire you.  I’ll spare you too much rambling because I know what you’re really here for…the cocktails!
