Where can you see Hillary Clinton, Nadja Swarovski, Hugh Jackman, Vera Wang, and Angela Pan all in the same place?
On Wednesday, June 7th, the Stephan Weiss Studio was overflowing with major names all gathering to honor the winners of the Stephan Weiss Apple Awards, created by Donna Karan in honor of her late husband. This honor recognizes people who are making a difference in preservation of culture, healthcare, and education, all hallmarks of the Urban Zen Foundation.
Ashley Chloe founder and CEO, Angela Pan reflects on her experience as one of the esteemed attendees, “It was so inspiring to be surrounded by this group of amazing women. With such turmoil in the world today, it was a pleasure to attend this fundraiser for such a worthy cause as the Urban Zen Foundation, and to recognize people making such a difference in the preservation of culture, healthcare and education. In particular, Hillary Clinton – a female leader, proven by experience and work ethic—and Nadja Swarovski – executive board member of her family’s business and passionate supporter of education, culture, and social impact – inspired us all, fully exuding just exactly what being a woman leader really means.”
The Urban Zen Foundation’s mission is to “empower children, educate and improve healthcare, and has developed several charitable initiatives since its founding, including its partnership with artisans in Haiti, which promotes economic development in the country, and Sow a Seed, which aims to support at-risk youth, orphans and children in hospitals by introducing them to yoga through local Haitian instructors.”
Hillary Clinton, one of several receiving the Stephan Weiss Apple Award that night, left the crowd with remarks on the importance of resilience in the face of adversity, “It’s easy to be grateful when things go your way, but when things don’t, how you find the resilience in the face of setbacks, how you call on the inner strength that you search for — how you stick with it [is what matters].”
Ashley Chloe, Inc., founder and CEO, Angela Pan, was honored to attend alongside Andy Cohen, Bernadette Peters, Calvin Klein, Camilla Staerk, Christie Brinkley, Diane von Furstenberg, Helena Christensen, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness, Huma Abedin, Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Kelly Klein, Kenneth Cole and Maria Cuomo Cole, Maria Borges, Prabal Gurung, Russell James, Sandra Brant, Stefano Tonchi and David Maupin, Trey Laird, Vera Wang, founder of Women for Women International Zainab Salbi, among others.
