Must-Have Accessories for the Perfect Park Day

Ashley Chloe Team on a Friday Afternoon

Chances are, if you work a typical 9-5, that you spend more time seated in front of a horrible blue light-emitting computer, punching away on a keyboard than basking in the glorious summer sun.  We’re here to remind you how important it is to get on out there and enjoy some Vitamin D! Last week, the Ashley Chloe team took a field trip to a local park for some grub and downtime. Besides the obvious benefits of taking a break and getting fresh air, being outside also has several mental health benefits including: reduction of cognitive fatigue and stress, and improvement of depression or anxiety.  Whether you’re taking a well-deserved break from a day of hard work, or you’re planning a weekend picnic, we have a list of must-have accessories we recommend for the perfect park day.

1. A blanket

This one may seem obvious, but you’d be surprised where your priorities lie when packing for a picnic (i.e. Rosé, cups, snacks).  There’s nothing worse than arriving to the park and realizing that you’ll have to ruin an outfit or share a meal with the bugs.

2. A power bank

Make sure you have enough juice to finish your audiobook or keep the music going by remembering to bring a charging bank.  We like the Halo Charge power bank because it’s packed with enough power to recharge your Helix Cuff up to 120 times.

3. Wine

This one is less of an accessory and more of a necessity.  We recommend the Cecilia Beretta Freeda Rosé Trevenezie at TJ’s (currently only $8.99).  Simpler Wines in can-form are also really convenient (especially if you don’t want to deal with heavy glass bottles).

4. Sun protection

What your Momma said was true after all!  You will wrinkle prematurely if you don’t protect your delicate skin.  We recommend any sunscreen by Supergoop, or if you want to re-apply facial sunscreen without ruining makeup, try the Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Sunscreen.  Nordstrom Rack has a fantastic selection of sun hats at a good price right now, too.

5. Good music

Nothing says “me time” like a pair of earbuds. Let the stress melt away and take along your Ashley Chloe Helix Cuff for maximum park enjoyment.  Check out our Calm Skies playlist on Spotify for relaxing tunes.

6. Sunnies

Protect your eyes from harmful rays and look fantastic while doing it.  Azalea San Francisco has the cutest selection of sunglasses we have ever seen.

7. A breezy sundress

Clothes that grab and pull should be avoided for a day at the park.  A sundress will keep you cool, and allow you to move around easily. Check out some of the pretty styles at Madewell or Anthropologie!

Bamboo Clutch

8. Picnic bag

A picnic day would be the perfect opportunity to show off your new bamboo clutch or drawstring bucket bag.

9. Picnic basket

Don’t leave the house without packing lunch or snacks!  We recommend taking along whole fruits like bananas, strawberries, and apples.  Carry it all in this heart-shaped picnic basket from World Market.

10. A good book.

Catch up on that book you meant to read but never got to.  Some of our favorites right now include: Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert, and You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero.

Happy picnic-ing !  If you have other book suggestions (seriously, we want to hear those), or tips for how to have the perfect park day, leave them in the comments below!
